- Physics of Discharges in Electric Fields of Highly Charged Aerosols and Multiphase Media.
- Physics of lightning and intracloud discharges (compact intracloud discharges (CID/NBE); initial breakdown impulses (IBPs); fast positive breakdown (FPBs)).
- Atmospheric high energy physics (runaway electrons and positrons in electric fields of thunderclouds; enhancement of extensive air showers)
- Physics of discharges (transient luminous events) in the middle atmosphere initiated by lightning discharges (sprites, jets, giant jets, elves).
- Physics of volcanic discharges.
